Location: Sauve is in the Cévennes, Languedoc wine region. It’s a peaceful medieval village on a rocky hill overlooking the Vidourle River. It’s off the beaten track, surrounded by vineyards and mountains.
Dates: Courses start weekly, with the first session on Mondays with a welcome dinner the Sunday before. Daily sessions involve 6 hours instruction per day (4 hours landscape painting and optional 2 hours landscape drawing). Make a summer painting workshop-to-order. You can attend for 2, 3, 4 up to 6 days in a row. We will start early at 8:30 to beat the heat, and paint in the walled, private, terraced garden until lunch is served in the shade. The classes will be kept small [no more than 4 people] and are for all levels, painting in the medium of your choice. Submission for the months June, July and August of 2010 are accepted. For more information or to reserve a place for this years course email Monica Franciscus.
Objective: Build on each painter’s individual strengths with a focus on color, space and composition - getting painters to a next level. The classes will deal with specific and different issues each day. Combining focus points from every class, everyone will have dealt with the major issues involved in pushing work to be strong. The instructor seeks to teach artists to understand and solve the visual challenges, see what each artist is attempting to do and find solutions in order to get there. The instructor will help identify each painter’s strengths and clarify work methods.
Instructor: Monica Franciscus has been painting for 20 years. She studied at The New York Studio School
